Do you visit CT often? Does Lark refer to the bird or is that a nickname? Will you stay in DC or do you think you'll move around?

Hey there! I try to visit CT every few months - usually for holidays or birthdays, especially since my family, Alex’s family and a bunch of our close friends from college still live in the area.

Lark does refer to the bird. I don’t remember how it came about but Travel Lark was the name of my original blog that I kept when I was on Semester at Sea (and the travel part was much more relevant). Part of me has wanted to change the name since I’m much more stationary these days, but it’s stuck.

I definitely think I’ll be in DC for the foreseeable future. I really love it here and I can’t imagine being anywhere else right now. That being said, who knows what the next few years will bring or where I’ll actually end up.

This weekend was for lots of family time!

Friday our office had a happy hour on the roof, complete with a performance from our office band! It was the perfect way to unwind with friends after a slightly stressful Friday.

Then Alex and I were off to NJ for a family reunion with my Mom’s side. We got to see her brothers as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. I haven’t seen most of them in years and it was a treat to get to re-meet many of them and catch up.

Sunday we were back in DC for a visit from Alex’s Dad and sister, who we’ll get to see again very soon for KT’s graduation!

Lots of travel this weekend but so worth it to get to see our families. Can’t wait for two shorts weeks in a row and an extra long weekend!

Hey team - given all the talk that’s been going on around preventive care this week, I wanted to share a piece we created for This Is Personal (client).

I knew that the ACA mandated coverage for birth control without co-pay or deductibles, but until I worked on this I had no idea that it covered a whole bunch of other preventive services too. The National Women’s Law Center has tons of other information on this if you’re looking for it, including a hotline if you’re having problems accessing these services.

Just a friendly PSA that this stuff is out there, and we should totally be taking advantage of it.

This weekend was for working and playing in New York!

I had a work event in NYC Saturday morning so I decided to make a weekend of it and visit friends. Friday I met up with my friend Grace for cocktails and dinner at Fanny, and some dessert at Fabiane’s.

Friday night, my sister Ali came and stayed with me on her way home for Mother’s day. Even though we were only together for a few hours, it was so good to just be together and stay up late talking. Plus, she brought me some challah, chocolate croissants and cheese rolls!

Saturday’s event went well and then I was en route to Williamsburg to spend the rest of the weekend with Jill. After an amazing brunch at Station we decided to go for a long walk in the rain around Prospect Park and Park Slope before going home to rest and watch some West Wing. We grabbed a late dinner at Ramen Yebisu and then rolled our full selves home.

Sunday morning we grabbed breakfast at Bagelsmith and then I was off to catch the train. Got home early enough to spend the afternoon with Alex, reading and enjoying the great weather.

This weekend was a little tiring, but it was so worth it to catch up with some of my favorite people.

Happy mother’s day Momma! I’m grateful every day for your wisdom and your caring and your humor. I’m in awe of your resilience. You’ve shown me by example over and over again how to take on new things, push barriers and create a meaningful life. Those are the big things.

But the little things matter just as much. I’m so glad I get to call you when I’m walking places. I’m thankful that you showed me how important it is to have a regular breakfast place, and that breakfast with friends is the perfect way to start any day. I love that your haircut make it looks like you never age. It’s amazing to see you so happy and in love.

Yesterday my girlfriends Kim, Kate, Mallory, Lianna and I celebrated our two year “friendiversary.” We became fast friends as interns working in the same glass box of an office for 8+ hours a day and over the past two years we’ve only grown closer. We’ve supported each other through the first years of our jobs, celebrated relationship milestones and new loves, and shared many bottomless brunches. I feel incredibly lucky to have friends who are smart and driven, who I can seek honest advice from, and who are just plain fun. Cheers to another year of fabulous friends.

This weekend was for…

A trip to Target on Friday night with Faye. Picking up some birthday presents and LOTS of cards (trying to make good on my May goals).

Saturday morning we were up early for Hero Rush! The race was incredibly fun and I had the best spectator a girl could ask for. I definitely want to do more obstacle races in the future. The rest of the day was for BBQ from Rocklands and cooking a nice dinner at home.

Sunday my girlfriends and I went to Boqueria for bottomless brunch. We take our bottomless very seriously. Three hours and many sangrias later it was time to lounge around Dupont circle before meeting my roommates for a backyard cinco de mayo celebration in Columbia Heights - complete with burgers and beer. We headed home when the sun went down to get into PJs and watch game of thrones. It was an awesome, exhausting weekend.
