I read a lot of college applications, a few of which made me cry and many that made me laugh. I got to travel for work to Florida, San Diego, North Carolina and Boston. My admissions job ended and I moved to DC! Made great friends, hit the jackpot on Craigslist roommates and loved my internship. I traveled with SAS friends to the Bahamas, wine tastings in upstate NY and my first MD crab boil. I got a new job, celebrated my 23rd birthday and my 2 year anniversary with Alex. I watched as my friends moved to NYC, Boston, and London to do amazing things and was overjoyed when they came to visit. My sister moved to DC and started culinary school and I ran my first 5k.
All of these things made this year great. But the thing that made 2011 so important was watching myself and the ones I love make big strides forward. 2010 was a really hard year and to see my family where we are now a year later, as a unit and as individuals, I feel very proud. I look at the life I have here in DC and I am immensely grateful. The friends that I’ve met here and the ones I’ve had all along have made my life so fun and fulfilling and I’m looking forward to whatever 2012 has in store for me.
So here’s to ringing in the new year with many bottles of Andre. And hopefully a bacon, egg and cheese tomorrow to start the year out right.
